In support of OT Week 2015 Omni Healthcare hosted a breakfast at Oscars Hotel and Café Bar, Doveton Street, Ballarat on Tuesday 20th October.
Guest speaker, Alexandra Gunning (Branch Manager Markets & Sector - The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS)) provided an informative presentation on the implementation and roll out of the NDIS across Ballarat and the Central Highlands region.
The NDIS is aimed at supplying individualised support to people with a permanent or significant disability, and provide funding to the individual to enable them afford specific products or services which will assist them to take part in broader range of everyday activities.
The NDIS will give participants more choice over how, when and where supports are provided. It also focuses on early intervention to reduce the impact of disability on participants and their families.
Ms Gunning discussed how providers can assist in engaging clients into the scheme and supplied those who attended with detailed information on:
· How the NDIS roll out will work.
· When regions are due to be rolled out.
· Eligibility criteria.
· What will and won’t be funded.
· How and when to enrol providers into service.
· Detailed data from previous NDIS trials.
· Details types of funding that NDIS support.
· The role of providers in the NDIS scheme.
The morning brought together Occupational Therapists from a variety of services around Ballarat. Omni Healthcare value the relationship we have with Occupational Therapists and wanted to show our appreciation for the difference that these dedicated professionals make within the community by supporting this breakfast.
Much appreciation goes to the staff at Oscars for looking after us all so well once again.
