Martin Chalks Up 6 Years With Omni

Martin Pegg, our resident deliveries and customer relationship assistant, recently chalked up six years with Omni Healthcare.

We interviewed Marty to find out about why he enjoys working as a member of the Omni Healthcare team.

1.     What is your role at Omni?

My primary role is deliveries and receiving of hire equipment and the cleaning and disinfection of that equipment, essentially a customer service role with some warehousing on the side.

2.     How long have you worked at Omni?

I have worked for Omni since September of 2009, I did two days trial, accepted the job offer then did two full weeks before I took a week off for my brother’s wedding in Perth. I flew back in on the Wednesday and was back at work on the Thursday. It might only be a four hour time difference but I’m not sure I was terribly bright eyed or articulate on that Thursday.

3.     What do you like most about the job?

Aside from getting out and about when the weather is nice, which is not always that often here in Ballarat, being able to assist people so they can maintain their independence at home is very satisfying.

4.     What are three words to describe Omni?

Educational - The amount of items, particularly the living aids that are available was an eye opener for me, not only that they existed but the fact that there was a need for them to exist. 

Satisfying - Being able to assist people through a rough patch after an injury or operation. Supplying equipment that enables people to stay in their home is also very satisfying.

Humbling - To hear some of the stories from our clients and the adversity that they have overcome is quite often humbling.

5.     What is your proudest moment at Omni?

One delivery sticks out in my memory, I was asked to deliver a shower chair to a veteran and although he was a little reluctant to take it once he realised there was no cost to him he broke down when he realised he’d be able to have a proper shower for the first time in who knows how long.
